World Language
Continuing the awards for excellence in language are THE WORLD LANGUAGE DEPARTMENT awards. These awards honor students who have attained excellence in the study of French, Spanish, Japanese, and Latin.
The 2020 Prix Victor Hugo for excellence in French goes to AnneMarie Marion for the outstanding work she has done and her passion for the language. Her continued effort to always do better and her constant engagement in class, makes her most deserving of this award. Felicitations, Annie!
The 2020 Don Quixote Award for Spanish is presented to Jadyn Brieske. Jadyn is a passionate advocate of the Spanish language and its culture showing that passion to her classmates in discussions and presentations. She has expressed her desire to continue the study of the language in the future. Muchas felicidades, Jadyn.
The 2020 Oye Kenzaburo Award for excellence in Japanese goes to Destiny Mickel. An independent, diligent, and highly motivated student, her hard work and dedication enabled her to succeed in this difficult language. She has served as a leader in Japanese National Honor Society and has helped plan and implement Japanese visits to Smoky Hill High School. Yoku gan bari mashita. Omedeto!
The 2020 Apollo Award for Excellence in Latin is presented to Miranda Sheinbaum. Andie is a dedicated, energetic and constantly curious Latin student. Not only is she an integral part of our Junior Classical League community, but her humor and knowledge lights up the classroom daily. Macte virtute esto!
