Lori Fitzgerald Memorial Scholarship
Lori Fitzgerald was a 1984 graduate of Smoky Hill High School. She graduated at the top her class, earning valedictorian status. She was also very involved in many aspects of life at Smoky Hill and in the Smoky Hill community. Lori earned a scholarship to the University of Texas El Paso to run track and cross country and to pursue her dream of becoming a teacher. However, in the fall of her freshman year in El Paso, Lori was tragically and accidentally killed while on a training run. In her memory, Lori’s parents started a scholarship to be given each year to a Smoky Hill student. This year’s recipient is Colby Powers.
